The Job Shadow Program provides currently enrolled students with the opportunity to shadow, observe, and learn from professionals in a career field of interest.
This program is ideal for undecided and first-year students, as it supports career exploration and provides early exposure to career pathways aligned with JJC’s academic programs and industry partners. Students are not expected to have prior job experience in the field. In fact, students with little to no professional experience are strongly encouraged to participate.
The Job Shadow Program helps students connect classroom learning to real-world environments, because at JJC, success starts here.
The Job Shadow Program experiences are:
- Designed to be short-term, typically lasting a single day between 4–8 hours or across several days within a week
- Hosted on-site with a single employer partner
- Offered during spring break and the week following spring commencement
- Free of cost for either students or employer partners
To participate, students must meet the following requirements:
- Minimum 2.0 GPA
- Be a currently enrolled JJC student and have successfully completed a full semester enrolled in at least 6 credit hours
- Complete Job Shadow Orientation, a required training session to ensure you’re prepared for your job shadow experience
- Be able to secure transportation to and from shadow site
Current JJC students interested in participating in the Job Shadow Program are invited to complete the form below.

What students are saying:
“I learned a lot of the basics about working as an engineer in the workforce, and this has inspired me to further pursue an engineer career. […] Hendrickson was a very kind and welcoming environment who went above and beyond to make sure we were welcome.” –Jacob W., A.S. Engineering Student
